Adventures in Indian Cooking

I've always loved spicy foods, and adore good Indian food.  (I have a dream of eating my way through India someday; if anyone has some advice on the best way to do that, please add it to the comments.)  But, not coming from an Indian background, I've always assumed that to eat good Indian food, I'd have to get it at a restaurant.  I'm living on a very constrained budget these days, so restaurant food has become a rarity.  And, even when we did order in, I assumed my 8-year-old and 10-year old kids, just getting used to spicier stuff, weren't ready for Indian food yet.  But that all changed a couple weeks ago.
