I Will Exercise More

» Topics

Here it is: The magical elixir that will make us stronger, lighten our mood, improve our looks and even lengthen our lives. All we have to do is get off our butts and reach for it.

Yes, we don’t have time. Yes, we don’t love the sweatpants look. And yes, sometimes we feel like the only person at the gym who needs to go to the gym. None of that matters. Whether it’s five minutes of step aerobics at home or a ten-mile run through the hills, we are going to exercise more.

While you and your team work toward your personal goal, here is where all of us interested in exercise can come together.  Tell your stories, share advice, find news, and report whether the gizmo you bought from that 3 AM infomercial gave you buns of steel or abs of platinum.

To post to this page, just join or log in, click on Journal under Create Stuff on the left, and choose "Exercise More" as a topic.

We also have a wealth of resources for you to use. Take a look, recommend the best stuff, and if we've missed anything, add it.

Want to improve your own well-being and that of those you work with?  You can lead a MIGHTY team dedicated to a year of living healthfully.  You could, for example, bring 3 to 50 employees together into one team; or, if you’d like to bring together a larger group, you could create an Organization Page for your whole workplace and then create a team for each department.

What would a “Year of Living Healthfully” look like?

We found this research not only fascinating, but directly connected to many important goals -- exercising, losing weight, reducing stress and even conquering fears.  The New York Times recently pointed out several studies indicating that when you exercise regularly, over time you grow new brain cells that are resistant to anxiety.

Can You Stop Aging?

Posted December 6, 2009 - 5:12pm by jgnyc

I have a friend, an independently wealthy entrepreneur, who has devoted himself to answering this question in the affirmative.  He avidly follows, and supports, research on treatments to stop the aging process. He is also a consumer of such treatments, at a cost many of us would find prohibitively expensive. (The safety and efficacy of such treatments, at least when they involve growth hormone, are also a matter of contention, but he swears by them.)  And he does look good for his age.

Perhaps you, like me, can't afford such treatments, and aren't sure you'd take the risk even if you could.  Well, now there's research indicating we may not have to -- that there's something each of us can do, for free, that will fight aging on a cellular level.

Got a minute? Change your life. In case you missed it, research published earlier this year demonstrated that as little as one minute of exercise a day can have a significant positive impact on your health.
